State Forestry Awards are conferred, on the occasion of World Forestry Day, every year for outstanding work in afforestation and plantation activities to Gram Panchayats, Educational Institutions and students. As per the provision made in the Notification No. 14585-I-Aff n.-6/2012-F&E dated 03.08.2012 of Forest & Environment Department, Govt. of Odisha from 2013-14 a cash award of Rs. 10,000/- for the Best Educational Institution (one for every revenue sub-division) and cash award of Rs. 20,000/- for the Best Gram Panchayat (one for every revenue sub-division) are given for outstanding performance in plantation/afforestation work. These awards are given in district level functions. Further, every year 2 Forest Rangers, 6 Foresters and 12 Forest Guards are honoured with the cash award of Rs. 5,000/-, a citation and a medallion for meritorious services and achievements in Forest protection, promotion of JFM, Afforestation and Plantation works, Forest and Wildlife Management, Forest Research & experiments and Kenduleaf operation management.

The State Level Biju Patnaik Award For Wildlife Conservation :
The prestigious State level “Biju Pattnaik Award for Wildlife conservation” is awarded every year during the Wildlife Week State Level Function . During 2012-13 this was jointly awarded to Sri Swaraj Kumar Kanhar for his outstanding contributions for protection and conservation of wildlife and Dr. Lala Aswini Kumar Singh for his outstanding contribution in the field of wildlife management and conservation. During 2013-14 this is awarded to Prof. Priyambada Mohanty Hejmadi, Biologist for her sustained contributions for protection and conservation of wildlife especially on developmental herpetology, olive ridley sea turtles & Esturine crocodile. During 2015, Shri Satrughana Rout is awarded in recognition for his contribution towards Wildlife conservation in the field of controlling poaching and illegal trade of wildlife for last twenty years continuously putting his life at risk from dreaded offenders.
From the year 2013, State Govt. have instituted the Sub-divisional level “BijuPattnaik Award for Wildlife Conservation”. For year 2013, 32 individuals from 30 sub-division of the State, were awarded by Hon'ble Chief Minister in the State Level Function. During 2014, 46 persons in 46 sub-divisions were awarded in the State in District Level function. During 2015 40 persons in 40 sub-divisions of the State in District level functions.
