Working Plan

  • The working plan is a document that details the management of forests of a territorial division in all aspects such as forest protection and conservation, wildlife management and resource harvest.
  • The prescriptions in Working Plan include Silvicultural Operations in the forest compartment, timber coupes and Bamboo coupes to provide conducive conditions for the growth of species. These operations include climber cutting, cleaning, soil conservation measures and thinning operation for promoting natural regeneration supplemented by planting of suitable species in plantable vacant spaces.
  • Altogether 44 Forest Divisions including part of 6 Wildlife Divisions are covered under 34 Working Plans for scientific management of Forest.
  • Out of total recorded forest area of 58,136 sq. km., 35,071 sq. km of area covered under Working Plan is scientifically managed through Working Plans.
  • Presently, 29 nos. of Working Plans covering 37 Forest Divisions have been prepared and approved by Government of India.
  • Government of India have accorded working permission for 2015-16 in respect of Ghumsur (North), Dhenkanal and Deogarh Forest Divisions.
  • The extension of working Plan of Ghumsur (South) and Bamra (WL) Division for the year 2015-16 is under consideration of MoEF & Climate Change, Government of India, Bhubaneswar.
  • The draft revised Working Plan of Ghumsur (South), Berhampur, Dhenkanal and Deogarh Forest Division have been submitted to the Additional PCCF (Central), MoEF & Climate Change, Eastern Regional Office, Bhubaneswar for approval.
  • The working plans of Nabarangpur, Ghumsur (North) and Bamra (WL) Division are under preparation.
  • There has been much improvement in implementation of prescription of Working Plans out of 13th Finance Commission Grant, State CAMPA and funds provided under ‘State Plan’.
  • The prescription for Working Plans includes Subsidiary Silvicultural Operation in timber coupes and Simultaneous Silvicultural Operation in bamboo coupes, climber-cutting, cleaning and thinning operation for improving natural regeneration, planting suitable species in vacant space etc.
